The most significant peace time construction project for the Ministry of Defence in over 10 years. IDCC Services Limited obtained the project through competitive tender to act as the principle contractor for the redevelopment of 108 units into Single Living Accommodation (ASL) for The Household Calvary Mounted Regiment.

The MOD had scoped to redevelop the existing building across a two phase program running side by side within a 23 week time frame.

The scope of works included the strip out of the exiting building and complete reinstatement of all units and communal areas including new mechanical and electrical installations and refurbished bathrooms and kitchens throughout in order to improve living conditions and standards.

Further to this each unit was fully furnished with a modern contemporary theme to help separate both work and social aspects of the end users.

Key Targets

  • Completion of both phases within 23 weeks of commencement.
  • Achieve greater than 50% recycled waste target.
  • Complete any additional and unforeseen works within the agreed 23 week time frame.
  • Other key targets have been excluded due to the Official Secrets Act 1989


IDCC Services where able to achieve the targets indicated above as a result has led to a review in a number of bench marks within the Ministry of Defence.

IDCC Services Limited was able through strategic project management to complete the works within 22 weeks under the initial target of 23 weeks from project commencement simultaneously undertaking a further £300,000.00 of additional works not included within the official scope of works.

Further to this the IDCC, through strict waste management and monitoring was able to achieve 97% recycled waste which has opened a review into the internal benchmarking and criteria.
